I am standing as a Reform UK councillor because many residents in the Cowes Medina Ward feel things are not working as they should, and they want to see real change, renewed hope and better results from local government.
I have lived and worked in Cowes for over 25 years in the marine sector, working in local business and running events. Through both my professional experience and daily life on the Island, I understand its strengths and opportunities, as well as the challenges we face locally. I am committed to working hard to support and improve our community.
Too often, council agendas feel disconnected from local priorities, and delivery is slow or ineffective, leaving residents to deal with the consequences. I will work to ensure agendas are focused, relevant and deliver meaningful improvements for residents in the Cowes Medina ward.
From listening to residents locally, there is continued frustration around issues such as the floating bridge, parking, road maintenance and the condition of public services.
I believe residents are missing consistent, accountable representation focused on delivery and results. Through running businesses and managing budgets over many years, I understand the importance of making money go further, cutting unnecessary costs and focusing on what really matters to local people. I will use this experience to deliver locally.
I want to bring a practical, results-driven approach to local government, listening to residents, focusing on what matters and ensuring the Council delivers better value and stronger outcomes. This includes supporting local economic renewal, encouraging investment in marine, tourism and local manufacturing businesses, and helping create meaningful employment opportunities for Island residents, particularly younger people.
I would also support initiatives to strengthen youth clubs and activities, providing safe, structured spaces for the next generation to come together, develop skills and build confidence.
