Cllr Michael Lilley has served his constituents on the Isle of Wight Council since 2017 where his roles included Chair of Policy and Scrutiny Committee of Health and Social Care. A Ryde Town Councillor since 2016, Michael also served as Mayor of Ryde from 2019-2023, overseeing the transformation of Ryde Town Council and helping to turn around the fortunes of Ryde. During the Covid epidemic he was Chair of the Isle of Wight Voluntary Sector Forum helping people help others.
A qualified Counsellor and Psychologist, Michael has long campaigned for improvements in Island mental health services and has been a trustee of the Isle of Wight Youth Trust. A leading light in the IW Voluntary sector, Michael is a trustee of IW Community action and Wight Community Energy.
Michael spent his schooldays on the Island prior to a 44 year career in community development and public health. He founded a counselling psychology practice, the international-award-winning, community owned “My Time”. Specialising in post-traumatic stress disorder he supported 1000s of veterans, refugees and police officers who experienced war zones, conflicts and major critical incidents. His experience enables him to cut through the status quo and find positive solutions.
