Party: Green
Vix Lowthion, 47, is the national spokesperson for the Green Party on Education and has stood on the island for the Greens since joining the party in 2015.
She’s helped to go the Green vote on the Isle of Wight to the third highest General Election vote, behind only Brighton Pavilion and Bristol Central. So there is a very real possibility that the Greens could take this seat.
She is a Vix is a secondary school teacher (History, Geology, Classics) and works with young people who travel from all across the Isle of Wight. Outside of her day job she volunteers for a number of organisations – including local theatre, carnivals, the Historical Association, the Isle of Wight Walking Festival, Story Festival and Ventnor Fringe. During the covid pandemic she was proud to be a regular NHS volunteer at the Riverside Vaccination Centre (pictured). In addition Vix serves as an elected community councillor and chairs the planning committee.
Her top priorities for Isle of Wight East are:
— Ferries run for islanders not profit
— Taking children out of poverty
— Investing in schools, NHS, social care
— Protecting our seas from sewage
— Right homes built in the right places
— Cheaper, renewable energy
