Name: Emily Brothers
Party: Labour
Living in Sandown and going around the villages and towns that bring our community together, I’m struck by a sense of common purpose for change. As ‘the People’s Advocate for Change’ I’m focusing on local economic growth and regeneration; strengthening community health and care; rail, buses, ferries; housing and anti-social behaviour.
The constituency is my priority and I’m best placed to work with a Labour government to reverse the Tory cost of living crisis, regenerate our high streets and protect our amazing coastal resources.
I bring strong political experience and skills having previously stood for Parliament in Sutton and Cheam (2015) and Greater London Assembly (2016).
Currently, I serve as a Sandown Town Councillor, Governor with The Bay Primary and Secondary schools and NHS Governor with Moorfields Eye hospital, leading on building a centre for integrated clinical excellence, education and research.
I’m also able to draw on professional experience and skills having managed corporate governance and special projects for the Disability Rights Commission. When the last Labour government decided to harmonise equality laws and bodies, I was involved in facilitating the transition to form the Equality and Human Rights commission and later managed its Programmes for Health and Local Government.
