If elected, I will be a visible and accountable councillor, delivering real results for Ryde Monktonmead. I will listen to residents, tackle local issues head on, and ensure our community is safe, vibrant, and supported.
Recent figures show why this matters: crime in Ryde is around 16% higher than the Isle of Wight average, with approximately 80 crimes per 1,000 people compared to 69 across the island. Antisocial behaviour and violence remain among the most commonly reported issues locally. This is unacceptable, and I, backed by the support of Reform UK, will work to change it, delivering safer streets for all.
Flooding at Monktonmead Brook affects homes, livelihoods, and the cleanliness of Ryde’s beaches. I will push for consistent maintenance of drainage systems and hold the Environment Agency to account.
I will protect our local environment by ensuring new homes are built in appropriate locations, streets are kept clean, roads are free of potholes, and vermin is properly controlled.
Supporting local businesses is vital. I will promote sensible parking solutions, encourage footfall, and challenge decisions that negatively affect our businesses and town centre. I will work to give small businesses a stronger voice in council decisions and push to reduce unnecessary red tape so local entrepreneurs can grow, create jobs, and keep Ryde vibrant and welcoming.
I am also committed to tackling Islandwide issues such as ferry prices and access to local healthcare, issues that directly affect families and prosperity.
A vote for me and a Reform -ed council means better local services and a clear message to Westminster: Ryde Monktonmead residents will no longer be ignored. We deserve action and we will be heard.
