For 11 years, I have served as a Freshwater Parish Councillor and, although I live in neighbouring Totland, I have always been an active member of the Freshwater community.
I first joined the Parish Council when campaigning to save the library. Preserving our community assets has been central to my work ever since. I am a trustee of Freshwater Memorial Hall – helping to make it the vibrant community hub it is. I chair the Parish Planning Committee – putting preserving the unique character of Freshwater at the centre of decision making.
Recently I championed to secure an upgrade to the park for local children and, as a member of the Skatepark Committee, I am dedicated to delivering a new, high-quality leisure facility for our community. I fought to keep the boat park exclusively available to Freshwater residents and, when the Parish Council was planning the new toilets at Freshwater Gate, I advocated to keep them free to use.
Now I would like the opportunity to do all of the things a County Councillor can do for you, which a Parish Councillor cannot; to grasp the opportunities of devolution and keep Freshwater a nurturing environment for people of all ages.
