Why I’m standing for Shanklin South
Shanklin has been an important part of my life since childhood. I lived in Ashcombe Court on Victoria Avenue and attended Shanklin Primary School when I was very young. Much of my childhood was spent here, and I have fond memories of travelling on the number 2 bus to secondary school in Newport each day. My mum has lived in our beautiful town for more than two decades and today, like you, I am also proud to be a Shanklin resident.
I am standing because, I believe Shanklin South deserves a councillor who is visible, approachable and answerable to local residents. I believe these three things can only genuinely be achieved when your local representative is accountable directly to you and not to a national political party whose priorities may lie outside Shanklin.
If you choose to elect me as your councillor, my commitment to you is that I will stand up for you and only ever work in the interests of Shanklin South, without party politics getting in the way of that.
Ultimately, this election is about who will work in your best interests. But it is also an opportunity to send a clear message to Westminster that you are tired of this Island being overlooked. You can do that by electing someone committed to local priorities, who will be locally accountable to you, who uses and supports the same infrastructure and businesses as you and, most importantly, who is independent of party allegiance.

My Three Priorities
Priority One: You. With no party whip to follow, you will always be my first priority. I will hold regular ward surgeries in different areas and remain contactable via telephone and email so you can raise concerns with me accessibly and directly. I will always respond to you ASAP and no later than 24 hours after you get in contact with me.
Priority Two: Stand up for sensible parking and planning decisions. I will campaign against harmful increases in parking charges and oppose development that damages the character of Shanklin South.
Priority Three: The Future. I will work effectively with all stakeholders and to the best of my ability to ensure that Shanklin South’s future is a bright one. This includes working tirelessly to ensure the coastal defence scheme and The Bay Place Plan have the best chance of coming to full fruition.
