Dear neighbours, I am Owen Potter, your Reform UK candidate for Ryde West.
I have lived in Ryde all of my life, with 33 years in the Swanmore area. I am proud to stand as a
candidate for Ryde West in this May’s local elections. I am driven by a sense that now is the time to
step up and do my part. If elected I will make a deep commitment to serving our community and
creating meaningful, lasting change.
As a resident who understands the everyday challenges we all face, both in Ryde and across the
Island as a whole, l am passionate about building a better future for everyone. We have much to be
thankful for, living here. However, there is still much that can be improved.
I feel I have valuable experience in problem-solving, collaboration, and leadership, but the best
solutions come from understanding the real concerns of the people I aim to represent. Whether it’s
improving local services, supporting small businesses, enhancing public safety, or helping to drive
investment in education and infrastructure, I am committed to practical actions that make a
difference. I value transparency, accountability, and open communication, something that I feel is
sorely lacking at the Council currently.
If elected, I will work hard to ensure that every voice in our community is heard and respected. I am
not just running to hold a position – I am running to make a difference, to help shape this
community and our local area into a place where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Together, we can move forward with energy, integrity, and a shared vision for a better future not just
in Ryde but in the whole of the Isle of Wight.
