Richard has huge, much needed experience as a County Councillor, He served for 4 years in Richmond upon Thames and then10 years on the Island in Parkhurst and Newport (West) wards. Richard is committed to providing strong, independent representation focused entirely on their needs and priorities of Cowes North.
“I believe the people of Cowes North deserve a voice that listens to them first and foremost,” said Richard. “I have already identified a number of local issues that need to be addressed and I want to be elected so that I can raise these and other concerns with the appropriate responsible bodies, including the Isle of Wight Council, Cowes Harbour Commission and the Ferry operators and actively pursue satisfactory outcomes.
Richard has long recognised the need to support our local marine and high-tech industrial sector. He will also focus on improving local services and supporting local retail businesses. He will try to bring awareness and support for the many individual shops, cafés and restaurants in the High Street, aiming to generally protect Cowes’ unique and vibrant character. As an Independent Councillor, he will be able to work collaboratively with councillors of all parties and the many community groups to deliver practical, common-sense solutions to residents’ issues.
Richard’s campaign literature invites residents to share their views and ideas directly with him in the coming weeks as he meets voters across the ward.
